CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PEEWEE 1 TEAM

KINGSTON LIMESTONE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

The Toronto Stars Peewee 1 team captured the GOLD medal at the Kingston Limestone Tournament, going undefeated in all 5 of their games. They played hard, beating Newmarket 4-3, Markham 6-3 and Kitchener Waterloo 4-1, in round robin play. In the semi final they played Gloucester and handily moved on to the final with a score of 6-1. The final game proved to be a real test for the boys who faced their toughest game of the tournament, going up against Northhumberland. The game was under control as the boys went into the third period with a 5-2 lead, only to see it evaporate in the final minutes, then with 2 seconds on the clock Ben Coates scored to bring the championship home. A true team effort. WAY TO GO STARS!!!!!

The Peewee 1 team is:
Nicolas Lappano (Goalie), Bruce Waddell, Dustyn Birkhof, Brodie Willard, Zach Jouri, Josh Connors, Peter Kerr, Kevin Bennett, Riley Rogers, Jun Woo Kim, William Campbell, Drake Morrison, Lucas Musacchia, Ben Coates, Callum Jeffrey, Cameron McGinnis & Jordan Riddell.

Field Lacrosse Provincials

We had two of our four field teams represent the Toronto Stars at provincials this year.

The Peewee team played some of their best lacrosse, making it to the Semi-Finals where they were to face Oakville. They were down 4 to 1 going into the 3rd quarter and came back to tie it up!!! The game finished tied at 5 to 5 taking it into overtime where they lost a hard fought battle in overtime 6 to 5. What a great run!!! The boys should be very proud of themselves!!! The coaches (Rick McCulloch, Jesse Crawford and Tyler Rogers) did incredible work with these boys and I know they are all looking forward to an even more successful season in 2014!

The Bantam 2 team qualified for provincials...first Stars team to qualify and make it through to provincials. In the round-robin the boys went 2-1-0 with wins against Caledon (10 to 2) and Orillia (8 to 6) and a loss to NOTL (9 to 3). At the end of the round robin three teams were tied for first with each having 2 wins and 1 loss. Out comes the dreaded OLA formula to determine 1st and 2nd place... GF / (GF+GA)...

The Bantam 2 boys ended up in third by a measly .077, therefore not moving on to the Semis. What a great run though! The boys played their best lacrosse ever against the Orillia team! The Coach (Bryan Whittaker) did an incredible job with this team this year and had great help and support from the Assistant Coaches/Trainers (Alex Lint and Rosse Greene). I heard them all talking about their plans for next year as they were leaving the field! Watch out, I think I smell a provincial win in 2014!

Congratulations to all of our Toronto Stars Field Teams! What a successful year!
